Rejoice people, hockey is back tonight! A full slate of 13 games are on the schedule for tonight, including the Blackhawks at the Avalanche.

The Hawks flew into Denver this morning in order to maximize the short Holiday break. Hopefully the long day of travel and morning skate capped off with a night game doesn’t leave them sluggish on the ice come 8 o’clock.

Via Chris Kuc and Mark Lazerus on Twitter, all signs point to Corey Crawford starting in net tonight, but Brad Richards and Michal Rozsival will not be in the lineup.

I’m hoping the young 3rd pair of defensemen, which will be comprised of Tim Erixon and David Runblad, play a sound game tonight. Nothing is more frustrating than watching those guys get in Q’s doghouse because of one turnover in the D-zone or one over-aggressive pinch in the O-zone while Rozsival seems to be forgiven every single time he makes a horrific pass along the boards. (It happens multiple times per game, just look for it Monday night against Nashville.)

Anyway, I’m hoping to see the complete opposite effort from the 5-1 loss to Winnipeg on Tuesday. More to come later, but for now – GO HAWKS!
